Tokyo College of Sushi and Washoku London

Modern redesign and UX optimisation for the UK’s only authentic Sushi & Washoku college

Overview

The Tokyo College of Sushi and Washoku is the only UK-based culinary school fully dedicated to traditional Japanese cuisine — taught in English by master instructors from Japan. But their website didn’t reflect the prestige of their brand or the uniqueness of their offering.

The Challenge

The client had recently launched their London branch as part of a wider international expansion. While their brand identity was strong, their online presence was outdated and underperforming. The old website lacked modern visuals, clear user flows, and conversion triggers — making it difficult for chefs and students to understand the offering or take action.

The Solution

I revamped the entire site to better reflect the premium, authentic feel of the brand. The new design focuses on clarity, modern UI, and direct booking paths. Key enhancements included:

  • Clean, responsive layout optimised for mobile
  • Subtle animations to reflect Japanese minimalism
  • Clear calls-to-action to encourage signups and inquiries
  • Fast loading performance + SEO best practices
  • Seamless integration with booking systems and contact flows

Client Feedback

First of all, I was surprised at how quickly he worked. Here in the UK, everything takes so long, and even when I contact him, I often do not get a reply. He always replies right away, and his responses are also quick. And of course, the quality of his designs is impeccable. What makes me happiest is that he gives me various suggestions from the clients perspective Masaru Watanabe
